Nature's Beauty - Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls is a stunning waterfall located near the village of Kagawong on Manitoulin Island, Ontario. Fed by the Kagawong River, which flows from Lake Kagawong to the North Channel of Lake Huron, the falls cascade approximately 11 meters (36 feet) over a limestone cliff into a picturesque gorge below.

Highlights

  • Scenic Beauty: The waterfall's delicate, veil-like appearance gives it its name and makes it a popular spot for photography and nature appreciation.
  • Swimming and Recreation: The pool at the base of the falls is a favored spot for swimming during warmer months. Visitors often enjoy wading in the river and relaxing in the serene environment.
  • Hiking Trails: A short, easy trail leads from the falls down to the North Channel, offering scenic views and opportunities to observe local wildlife.
  • Accessibility: There are two approaches to the falls: one from the top via an outdoor steel staircase adjacent to the falls, and another from a few hundred meters down the trail past some rapids. Both are easily accessible from Highway 540.
  • Parking: While there is access to the trail system at Bridal Veil Falls, safer and more spacious parking options are available in the lower hamlet of Kagawong, including at the Park Center and near the river mouth.

Seasonal Attraction

In October, Bridal Veil Falls becomes a natural stage for the annual Chinook salmon run. Thousands of salmon make their way upstream to spawn, offering a remarkable display of nature's cycle.

Bridal Veil Falls is not only a natural wonder but also a place of tranquility and recreation, making it a must-visit destination on Manitoulin Island.
